Seznam account block

Accounts are only blocked in rare cases, usually when a user seriously violates one of the reasons listed below. Any such block is carried out exclusively by Seznam.cz.

What are the possible reasons for account blocking?

1. Violation of Terms and Conditions

By agreeing to the Terms and Conditions, users commit to using their account in accordance with the rules set by Seznam.cz. These terms outline which activities are considered inappropriate across various Seznam services. Any action breaching these rules may result in a block. If the Terms do not cover a particular case, additional guidance is provided by the Commercial and Contractual Terms of the individual services operated by Seznam.cz, a.s., and relevant legislation.

2. Sending Unsolicited Messages (SPAM)

Sending spam is a common reason for an account block. There are two typical scenarios:

  1. Intentional spamming
    • The user sends unsolicited messages either intentionally or unknowingly.
  2. Account misuse by a third party
    • The account was accessed and misused by someone else who somehow obtained the login credentials. In many cases, the account owner is completely unaware that their account has been compromised.

3. Violation of Service Rules

Sometimes, a block may apply only to a specific service within Seznam (not the entire account). This happens when the user violates the specific rules of that service.

4. Account Deletion Request

If you request to delete your account and personal data (in your Account settings under Personal Data – Data Protection – Request to delete account and user data), a 14-day grace period starts. During this period, the account is blocked and most functionalities are restricted. To continue using your account, you must log in during this grace period and cancel the deletion request. Once the period expires, the account is permanently deleted, and user data cannot be recovered.

How to proceed if your account is blocked?

  1. If you’re not aware of any breach of the Terms and Conditions:
    • Check your device for viruses or suspicious applications that may compromise your account security
    • Change your account password (see our Secure Password guidelines; if you’re using Two-Factor Authentication, change the passwords for mail protocols and CalDAV as well)
    • If you’re not using Two-Factor Authentication to protect your account, consider activating it
    • Review our Internet Safety Tips to help you recognize risks and phishing attempts
  2. If you suspect your actions may have conflicted with the Terms and Conditions, take time to reflect and correct any issues. This will increase the chance of a block being lifted.
  3. Contact our User Support Team and provide as much relevant information about your situation as possible.
  4. If your account is blocked during the 14-day grace period following an account deletion request, logging in with your valid password should redirect you to a page where you can cancel the request and keep your account.

Who decides on lifting the account block?

Our User Support specialists will assess the reasons behind the block and evaluate any request to restore access. The decision made by our support team is final. If your request is approved, our team will provide guidance on how to avoid similar issues in the future.
