Seznam.cz allows its users to increase the security of their user account and login password by verifying a recovery phone number.
- For newly registered accounts, this is a required part of the registration process
- For previously registered accounts, this option is currently voluntary. However, we proactively notify users about the absence of a recovery phone number:
- during login
- in Account settings
- in the Account profile
- via a dialog shown in selected services
Each user has the option to verify their phone number. This information can then be used if the user requests to recover a forgotten password. In such cases, the account recovery request can be verified by sending an SMS message to the previously verified phone number.
Important: For the recovery phone number to work correctly, you must set a number that you own and always have access to. If you change your phone number, remember to update it in your Account settings in time!
How to verify your phone number
Sign in to your Account.
After signing in, go to the Account Security section.
On the line Phone number for password recovery, click the Set link on the right. A form for phone number verification will appear.
We may ask you to confirm that the account is really yours before proceeding with this setup.
In the field Enter your phone number, type your phone number and click Continue.
Note: Phone number verification without entering an international dial code is only possible for Czech mobile numbers.
For foreign numbers, don’t forget to include the international dial code (e.g. for Slovakia +421 xxx xxx xxx). You can find a list of international dial codes, for example, on Wikipedia.org.
Wait for the SMS with the PIN code to arrive. If you don’t receive the message within five minutes, check the number you entered. You can correct it by clicking Edit number. Alternatively, click Resend to receive a new code. In some cases, restarting your phone may help.

Note: You can receive a maximum of 6 SMS PIN codes per phone number in 24 hours.
Enter the code from the SMS into the Verification code from SMS field and confirm by clicking Finish phone number verification. The verification code consists of four characters.
If you’re registering on a mobile device, you may be offered to autofill the confirmation code from the SMS.
This consent applies only to your device and only for that specific SMS for the purpose of using the delivered code.
Once the verification is completed, your verified phone number will appear in the Account Security section.
