Media Education Academy

The Academy assists teachers who have previously been educated in media education topics but have not yet applied media education in their teaching or are just starting out.

The goal of the Academy is to create a supportive community of media education educators. Teachers who want to engage in media education in their classes, as well as those who are just beginning to teach this topic, can participate. The Academy program consists of joint meetings at the Prague headquarters of Seznam.cz, visits to selected editorial offices, and online workshops. The Academy participation fee is covered by Seznam.cz, so participation in the Academy is free for all interested parties.

What does the Media Education Academy offer?

Courses and Lectures

The content of the educational program is determined by the participants themselves. They jointly choose the topics they want to focus on and the experts they want to meet, whether they are experts from Seznam.cz or external guests.

Editorial Visits

We are happy to facilitate contact with an editorial office or a PR or advertising agency if the Academy participants determine that the excursion will contribute to their media education teaching.

Thematic Education

The Academy program also includes meetings on the content and concept of media education, media ethics, media law, etc. Thematic education is mandatory for you and will take place in five sessions – in September, November, January, March, and May.

Mutual Support and Consultation

Together with other Academy participants, you will discuss which media education topics you would like to cover in your teaching, create new methodologies, or find another suitable lesson for the given topic. During the Academy and before the actual teaching in your classes, you can request a personal consultation with experienced educators.

When and how does the Academy take place?

The Media Education Academy generally runs concurrently with the school year, from September to June. During this time, you participate in joint meetings, online courses of the Seznam se s médii program, or lectures/courses of other educational organizations. The goal is to complete expert lessons totaling 20 hours during the Academy. If you have previously completed any media education courses, you can have them recognized retrospectively.

What are the conditions for registration?

To join the Academy, you must have the support of your school, participate in all listed activities, and teach two new lessons related to media education during the school year. You choose the topics of the lessons yourself. The Media Education Academy is not accredited or remunerated and is free for participants.

Can I enroll in the Academy during the year?

The Academy is a project planned for the entire school year, so it is not possible to join during it. However, if interested, you can register at any time through the form for the upcoming year. Based on your application, we will contact you at the right time.
